Principal Responsibilities/Accountabilities: To supervise a team of engineers, distributing tasks appropriately, communicating with the team. Ability to incorporate upgrade modifications into the drawing set and provide design solutions. Working with a team to create and update detail and assembly drawings, incorporating engineering change notes, achieving delivery to time cost and quality. Provide engineering input to technical, commercial and contract reviews within the company and with customers. Ensure that all project stakeholders have the right information at the right time, through pro-active communication. Supporting the team through individual progress reviews, providing feedback, managing performance and conduct issues. Identify training and development needs to ensure current and future skill requirements are met and addressed through coaching, on the job training and making recommendations for formal training. Liaise with internal departments to ensure that the team is working to the correct specifications (e.g. Quality). Liaising with customers at the working level in order to meet their requirements. Managing workload of self and others to ensure tasking completed to schedule. Decision Making Authority: Making decisions on engineering related issues. Report Preparation: Prepare reports for customer Contact with others: Internal Contacts: Senior Engineers Team members, including employees and subcontract staff Colleagues External Contacts: Customer Most challenging/Difficult part of the role: Managing the work of self and others to meet time, cost and quality requirements. Experience, Knowledge, Qualifications (Essential): Experience: Applicants should have a sound background in Aerospace Engineering with experience of creating and updating detail and assembly drawings. Ability to develop technical solutions, compliant with requirements within agreed programmes and timescales Knowledge: PC literate - MS Office, MS Project an advantage. Skills/Competencies (Essential): Use of Anvil, Catia, CADDS 5 and BCAWD packages. Experience of incorporating engineering change notes and upgrade modifications into existing drawings. Experience of configuration control. Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers. Experience, Knowledge Qualifications (Desirable): Experience: Previous experience operating as a team leader / supervisory level. Previous experience of working on BAES (Harrier), Airbus or Augusta Westland preferable, other aircraft experience will be considered. Qualifications: Previous experience of checking drawings would be an advantage but the ability to move towards holding approved signatory status is essential. Aerospace or engineering degree (or equivalent).
