To manage a team responsible for enforcing housing legislation in respect of private rented dwellings and houses in multiple occupation. To provide specialist advice in relation to environmental health housing issues. Key Responsibilities: To manage and oversee the teams work in relation to the inspection of owner occupied accommodation, houses in multiple occupation, Bed and Breakfast hotels and other privately rented property. To seek compliance with legislation, ODPM guidance, divisional policies and procedures enforced by the division. To include partaking in sensitive and complex projects, investigations and areas of legislation and the planning of new initiatives To contribute towards the development, implementation and review of the private sector housing strategy and targets, providing specialist advice on privately rented sector housing in relation to environmental health issues. To be involved as appropriate in other areas of the units work and at times of emergency on behalf of the department. Essential Requirements: Must be a qualified Environmental Health Officer with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHORB). Awareness of Grants Legislation and the Home Energy Conservation Act. Detailed knowledge of relevant Housing Environmental Health Legislation, Construction and Surveying regulations.
