·To work closely with project managers and project engineers to agree contracting strategy and programme for projects, ensuring compatibility between capital expenditure plans, specification and conditions of contract. ·To compile (or assist with the compilation of) prequalification, contract and tender documentation for construction contracts. ·To negotiate terms and conditions and formulate contracts for the above. ·To liaise with and appraise contractors capabilities and performance; and establish good relationships with them. ·To formulate and issue Invitations to Tender, coordinate tender processes through to award of contract. ·To source new contractors to meet the evolving needs of the organisation. ·To ensure compliance by the Company with the latest UK and EU legislation. ·To provide commercial advice and support to internal customers post award including variations, claims and final accounts. A technically qualified professional is an essential requirement, preferably chartered, but otherwise with substantial construction procurement experience and an appropriate degree In depth knowledge and experience of a variety of differing types of construction contract forms (e.g. ICE, NEC3, I. Chem. Engs.) Good communication skills Good IT and analytical skills Understanding of all aspects of the business associated with capital planning and delivery. A strong team player with the ability to work unsupervised and to produce quality outputs to key dates.
