A major aviation client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager. JOB PURPOSE Provide Flight Operations with Electronic Warfare and Target Tow equipment in accordance with the daily Flying Program Manage the maintenance programs for all Mission Equipment Develop Continual Improvement methodologies in the form of key performance indicators, optimised maintenance procedures and tailored staff training programs Line Manager to section leaders/foremen in Target Tow and EW Maintenance. Functional Manager to other EW Maintenance site. Providing technical advice and support to Mission Sytems staff, EW Operations and other Departments as necessary. JOB RESPONSIBILITY Reporting to the Head of Mission Systems, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the day to day provision of electronic warfare and target tow equipment in accordance with the published flying program. This will involve coordinating engineering staff (EW, TT and aircraft maintenance); equipment assets and spares across operating bases; as well as detachment locations both in the UK and overseas. The successful candidate will have Line-Manager responsibility for the local Target Tow and EW Maintenance sections; and functional line reporting responsibility to the other UK based EW maintenance bay. The role includes being accountable for maintenance and defect clearance for a wide range of radar jammer, threat simulation pods, towed targets and chaff dispensing systems. The Operations Manager will be involved with the management of a 7-figure annual maintenance budget and identify and implement areas of efficiency improvement and cost reduction, yet maintaining the highest standards of safety and equipment serviceability. In addition, the Operations Manager will play a key part in migrating from an existing paper-based maintenance scheme to a company networked PC-based asset management system due to be implemented in Q1/2008. The Operations Manager will be required to co-ordinate with our clients Part-145 aircraft managers to ensure the safe operation of the aircraft and role equipment combination. Education Degree/HND in Engineering Discipline Experience Sound knowledge of electronics, including analogue and digital components, microprocessing and FPGAs. Software engineering experience and/or background in RF engineering would be an advantage. Minimum 5 years experience at Manager/Supervisor level in a suitable maintenance organisation Supplier Management Experience Good PC Skills in MS Office, Databases & Project Planning Packages Thorough working knowledge of stock control/asset management systems Background in Aviation Personal Characteristics; Excellent Interpersonal Skills Assertive & Resourceful Character Able to use initiative to solve problems and communicate/delegate solutions
