Role with one of the big 4 service companies - based in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.
As a fully competent engineer in all aspects of the products within the business unit, the person will plan and conduct work using independent evaluation, judgement, standard techniques, and procedures. In addition the position will exploit the use of new approaches to problems encountered, by adaptation and modification of new or existing product lines to develop engineering alternatives. This will assist in exploiting business opportunities and ensure that products meet the required needs of the customer.
This includes the completion of feasibility studies as required to ensure that products are supplied to meet actual or anticipated future customer needs, in-line with and Client Company policies, procedures and systems, statutory regulations and good industry practice. This position provides the main Engineering point of contact for all technical / engineering support for regional manufacturing, sales and operations for the above Business Unit. This includes liaising with the GBU Engineering and manufacturing teams within Weatherford as required.
The role requires either a broad based experience in specific subject matter expertise, or research and development, or both. The role is measured by the accurate interpretation of product requirements into effective designs/drawings that can be used to manufacture products; the effective communication and coordination of technical support for the product; and the development of the engineering team by increasing product design and application knowledge.

Skills/Knowledge:
Essential:
Demonstrate a broad based knowledge of product line, systems and their applications.
Must have proven technical problem solving ability.
Must have demonstrated basic keyboard skills, and a working knowledge of CAD/Pro-E and other computer systems - sufficient to effectively utilise Weatherford systems.
Demonstrate communication skills, along with an ability to work in a team environment. The ability to work unsupervised and exercise initiative to resolve potential problems is a pre-requisite.
Must have demonstrated a good knowledge of Rig Systems and Production/Drilling Operations, and a full understanding of Down-hole Hydraulics.
Demonstrate a hands-on experience working with down-hole equipment, light machinery and hand tools.
