An exciting new opportunity has arisen in this dynamic infrastructure organisation .
Our client are the umbrella organisation that supports the work of the VCS working with offenders, seeks to appoint a programme director. This is an exciting new position in the organisation and comes about at a time of rapid change in the Criminal Justice System.
The Job
Recently, our client has successfully bid for resources to help create a step change in the relationship between the National Offender Management Service (including both HM Prison Service and the Probation Service) and the Voluntary and Community Sector. This post is to lead this new national programme in a collaborative and inclusive style ensuring that it reflects the principles of the organisation while demonstrating that these resources are being effectively used to support the voluntary sector.
The post holder will lead on this work ensuring that our client, on behalf of its members, delivers in 4 key areas of activity – namely Voice and Representation; Partnership Working; Capacity Building and Volunteering. This will entail working across the organisation to develop systems that will strengthen operational activity as well as manage relationships with statutory and voluntary sector partners at a national level.
The job will be located either in London or York with an expectation that time will be spent in both locations on a weekly basis. Additionally there will be a need for national travel on a regular basis. The post will be managed by our clients Director.
The Person
The person our client are looking for should have the experience and skills as outlined in the person specification below:
Essential Skills
• Project management skills that include establishing, developing and reporting on multi agency approaches across sectors.
• A systems based approach with experience of developing constructive and systematic solutions to problems.
• Experience of working at a senior level in an externally focused organisation, including the ability to work at a senior level with policy makers.
• People and resource management skills that include both line management and team building skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to, and experience of, promoting diversity.
