Deputy Security Controller The Deputy Security Controller/Crypto Custodian (DSC/CC) reports to the Security Controller/Deputy Crypto Custodian (SC/DCC) who is responsible for ensuring that the level of protection afforded to protectively marked assets held in, and associated with the designated area under their control is in accordance with the Manual of Protective Security. The DSC/CC is required to work with Cryptographic Material and will be responsible for the transmission, receipt and accountability of all Cryptographic items in accordance with the Manual of Protective Security. The DSC/CC is responsible for ensuring that the level of protection is afforded to protectively marked assets held to ensure that the IT System is operated in accordance with the agreed System Security Policy as set out in the Accreditation documentations Set. (ADS). The DSC/CC may be required to work with the Local Personnel Manager in order to manage clearances issues and to ensure an adequate level of security awareness and training and with the Local Operations Manager on issues of procedural security. The key responsibilities of the post are to: To ensure an adequate level of secure storage items for Protectively Marked Material is held locally. To ensure Cryptographic Material is protected in accordance with MoD Regulations. To manage the Access Control System and look after Security Perimeter for the List X Area, through liaison with local posts holding responsibility for site security guards etc.. To establish and monitor the use of, a document register where this is required for the protectively marked material held on site. To ensure that secure document disposal facilities are provided. To act as the point of reception for Security Aspects Letters relating to protectively marked it systems and information held on site. To ensure an adequate level of training and awareness in the relevant user population. To manage local security clearances, included conducting Basic Check (BC) clearance confirmations and managing and tracking applications for higher levels of clearance. The manage the aftercare aspects of individuals no longer needing security clearance. In detail the post will need to assist the Security Controller/Deputy Crypto Custodian as follows To liase with the appointed Government Security Advisor (GSA) on a scheduled basis in order to ensure that any new or ongoing problems are monitored and tracked to resolution. To bring to the attention of the GSA any incidents or circumstances that might call into doubt the level of protection afforded to protectively marked material held on site. To liase with the appointed Board level contact to ensure that they are advised of any problems or circumstances requiring their attention. To promulgate any new or changed security advice to the appropriate individuals or populations. To support IT Security Manager on site in terms of providing a secure environment in support of the technical and procedural measures as may be mandated in any relevant ADS, and to advise on any changes in circumstances affecting existing systems, and to advise on the companys ability to meet any additional requirements arising from new installations. To report any suspected or actual security incidents to the appropriate authorities, and to assist with the investigation of any reported incidents. Management Experience would be an advantage Able to work effectively at all levels Detailed knowledge of a specific business function/process Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
