Media Sales Manager

Media Sales Manager
Central London
£35,000 Basic OTE £55,000 Uncapped
International travel included, Cayman Islands, Bermuda, New York + Europe (At least 6 business trips per year)

Main purpose of the job: To ensure revenue targets are achieved or exceeded across a weekly publication to the financial markets. Week and associated brand extensions including supplements, events, awards and online. Responsible for £2 million revenue.
Direct reports include the current team of 5. The right candidate should be looking to take revenue control of other parts of the portfolio within 12 to 18 months, based on performance.
Key tasks, duties and quality standards in meeting department purpose/objectives:
-- To exceed personal sales targets on the weekly publication and associated products.
-- To ensure team and product targets are hit and/or exceeded.
-- Ensure teams are fully staffed, trained, motivated, disciplined, and led to achieve the business objectives
-- To establish and encourage a culture of cooperation across the division, especially with editorial, accounts, the business development teams, marketing and the other business units within Pageant
-- To establish competence across the team with regard to core publishing disciplines including yield, series sales, online sales, packaged deals etc
-- To establish a culture in the team of career development and portfolio sales
-- To develop a team of line managers you can rely on to support you
-- To put systems in place to ensure the teams are working towards the common objective
-- To use forward planning and team development to ensure revenue streams are robust and growing
-- To develop new and existing staff that reduces our reliance on certain individuals, ie ?strength in depth.
-- To act as the link between senior management and the sales teams and to advise on both positive and negative issues on the medium term horizon
-- To develop the offering and opportunities offered both within and without the core products.
-- To take a key part in the strategic development of the portfolio at budget and planning stage and lead the delivery of these budgets
Person Specification:
-- Candidate will have solid management background in media sales and be a top biller themselves. With weekly experience.
-- Candidate will have been classically trained in media sales (DIPIDA or AIDA), possibly at a large media house
-- An interest & knowledge of markets would be a distinct advantage as would a
-- Experience of running sales teams essential. There is huge potential with the role as we aim to double the size of the business over 3 years.
-- Should be ambitious, high energy, and level headed
Decision making authority/constraints:
All expenses and budget to be signed off by the managing director. Responsible for recruitment, disciplinary, incentives, training, appraisals, new ideas and targets
