Project Engineer (Mechanical OR Electrical) OVERALL PURPOSE To plan for and provide timely cost effective and professional engineering service necessary to meet the Companys capital investment programme in a safe manner. Provide effective support to the Company Management on items related to mechanical engineering and associated electrical and civil works. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Agree with the receiving manager the project requirements and ensure that these requirements are met on time and within budget. 2.Ensure that projects are planned in a way that gives minimum disruption to the receiving managers operations. 3.Ensure that all projects are carried out in accordance with Company policies and procedures. 4.Develop and gain approval of and implement projects that will improve plant availability or reduce operating costs. 5.Maintain constructive industrial relations with all site staff while complying with all legislative requirements. 6.Ensure that safe working practices are documented and used at all times in the provisions of the mechanical or electrical engineering service. 7.Keep up to date with current legislation and so ensure that all plant and equipment purchased complies with current regulations. 8.Contribute as a member of the Operations Management team to the development introduction of and improvements of in: - a.New equipment and technology. b.Information and process control. c.Quality. d.Planning. e.Cost reductions. 9.Develop and gain approval of and implement schemes that will improve overall department cost effectiveness. 10.Ensure full communication with all involved staff, departments, contractors and suppliers. 11.Maintain a high level of co-operation and goodwill with all site personnel. 12.Ensure by regular monitoring that contractors employed on projects under our control, work in a safe manner, comply with company rules and statutory regulations and maintain their allocated areas in a clean and tidy manner. 13.Ensure by ongoing training and skill analysis that all employees under your control have the required skills, knowledge and flexibility to meet the ongoing changing needs of the business. 14.Ensure by ongoing review that all key success factors are measured and improved on a continuous basis using key performance indicators (KPI). 16.Ensure by review that the employees under your control understand their role and responsibilities for the continuous improvement of Company profitability in the areas of: - a.Quality - Scrap and rework. b.Safe working practices. c.Contribution to continuous improvement ideas. d.Contribution to team performance. e.Interdepartmental co-operation and flexibility. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE ·Degree and/or HNC in an engineering or similar discipline. ·Industrial/practical experience in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering. ·Ability to work alone using initiative as well as working in a team. ·Mechanical craft apprenticeship and/or industrial experience would be desirable. ·Good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and requirements. ·Good project management skills. ·Good IT skills such as Microsoft packages and ideally experience of using CAD.
