Junior Developer and Support Administrator - Central London

Based within the technical team you will be a reliable and enthusiastic individual looking to perform the dual role of Junior Developer and Support Administrator. The role will involve discussing problems or queries with clients and investigating suitable solutions, as well as assisting with the continuing development of the software. This will include product-specific procedures such as report and document production, data importing and exporting and general database configuration. Travel within the UK to clients premises and user group venues will occasionally be needed.
Daily duties will include
-- Software development and testing in accordance with standards
-- Bespoke work encompassing client specific additions and database related work
-- Production and maintenance of software documentation.
-- Configuration and installation of software applications for clients
-- Setting up and maintaining our own in-house training computers as well as configuring client datasets for off-site training
-- First-line contact from clients for all support issues, generally via phone or email.
-- Providing technical support and assistance to end-users.
The ideal candidate will be a computer-literate graduate with a technical or GIS grounding. An understanding of common database structures and file types, as well as experience of MapInfo will provide a distinct advantage. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills with an aptitude and keenness to learn and develop their programming skills. Experience of Visual Basic or VBA or MapBasic is essential with some exposure to RDBMS and web based mapping.
