we are currently looking to recruit an experienced production design engineer for what can only be described as one of the uks leading design and manufacturers of household products, to be based at one of their facilities in the birmingham area of the west midlands
as the production design engineer in this role, you will be responsible for taking conceptual product designs and converting these in to practical manufacturing and production drawings along with bills of material.
you will also have responsibility for the evaluation and testing of prototypes and will be involved in projects from the initial design stages, right through to taking products to market.
in detail, you will undertake redesign and value engineering projects while maintaining product performance and quality, evaluate and test prototypes to ensure that they meet the required brief and specification and resolve component and assembly detail, and specify to enable manufacturing.
applicants should be either qualified to hnc in mechanical or manufacturing engineering and possess a minimum of 2 years experience, or be degree qualified in mechanical or manufacturing engineering with at least 1 years post graduate experience.
applications are welcomed from experienced mechanical design engineers who possess proven previous experience in product design and of modern manufacturing techniques in the non-ferrous industry. in addition, some experience of machine shop and jig and tool design is desirable.
in addition it would be advantageous if applicants have experience of using pro engineer design software.
