Automation Engineer. My client are a leading manufacturer of Medical Devices to the Pharmaceutical Industry. They are urgently looking to recruit an experienced Automation Engineer to be based in their Wiltshire location. OBJECTIVES OF JOB:- To manage the specification, purchase, installation and validation of new automated equipment, and to provide fault identification, correction/process improvements on existing equipment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Selection and management of suppliers - Specification of automated equipment and service requirements - Identify and implement process improvements (efficiency, quality, cost effectiveness) - Management of activities in accordance to schedule and budget. - Keep awareness of new technologies in PLCs - Fully document trials/validations and work in accordance with internal procedures, GMP and Regulatory Controls.- Ensure safe working environment is maintained. - Keep abreast of technological developments in automation engineering. - Carry out specific projects as directed by the Engineering or Production Manager. - For leading Six Sigma Green/Black Belt projects. TASKS: - Writing of validation protocols and validation reports - Programming of various PLC systems - Compile specifications, protocols, reports and procedures. - Supplier and customer liaison. - Identify equipment maintenance requirements. - Problem analysis and risk assessment - Compile project plans and budgets - Equipment installation, commissioning and validation - Training of technical resources TRAINING & EDUCATION - Good standard of general education. Has the ability and willingness to learn - One of the following: * TEC diploma in an appropriate discipline *Apprenticeship in electro-mechanical engineering. * Safety training / Awareness EXPERIENCE - Two years experience within high volume automated manufacturing environment. - Programming of PLCs. - Working to project plans and validation protocols. - Proven track record of procuring and installing automated equipment. - Design of automated equipment. - Developing validation protocols, their execution, analysis and reporting. - Project management and Design Control. - SPC, FMEA and Six sigma (green belt) - Design of equipments for manufacturing in a cleanroom / medical or pharmaceutical industry. - Experience in pneumatics, robotics, vision systems and plastic component assembly. - Electrical / electronic / mechanical fault finding - Plastics part design - Awareness of inspection/measurement techniques (metrology) - Experience of spring manufacture - Working knowledge of GAMP requirement and relevant regulatory standards as well as 9001, 14001 and EN 46001. This role is 8am - 4pm and carries an excellent salary as well as a good range of benefits.
