Mechanical Design Engineer. My client has extensive capability in the design and manufacture of motion technology products to meet the requirements of todays state-of-the-art aerospace and defence programmes. Scope of Role The role involves working with a team of Project Leaders and Electro-magnetic, mechanical and electronic design engineers to support the delivery of world class designs for application-specific solutions. It is expected that suitable candidates will have an appreciation of the mechanical design of precision servo components. Main Responsibilities All duties within this job description should be carried out in line with any Company policies and procedures in place at the time and in line with any requirements set out in the Business Management System. An emphasis exists on a team approach, which is geared to support our New Product Introduction process. · Support new products from concept through to volume manufacture. · Carry out stress/dynamic analysis using FEA tools and hand calculations · Work within company procedures and contribute to their development, the objective being to maximise company efficiency whilst meeting all customer requirements. Other Responsibilities/Non-essential Functions No staff management responsibility, however, guidance will need to be given to other members of the team at times of planned absence such as annual leave. Driver Status This role requires a driver who owns or has access to a car. Qualifications / Skills · Track record of producing high quality work within 3D CAD systems · Track record of working within the disciplines demanded of an Aerospace/ISO9001 design and manufacturing environment · PC skills (MS Office) Experience · 3 years experience in mechanical design of precision electromechanical products · Knowledge of environmental testing · Designing for Lean Manufacture · Developing complex customer documentation packages · Track record of delivering presentations to customers and peers · Previous experience of NPI, or cradle to grave project control · manufacturing principles · Hands-on experience of environmental testing · Experience in the design of one or more of the following products: - experienced in stress analysis - Able to complete hand calculations - FEA experience An excellent salary and benefits package is on offer for the successful candidate as well as a generous relocation package if necessary.
