Based in Basingstoke, Bristol or Glasgow , the Senior Hydraulic Modeller will provide expert input into numerical modelling for flood risk assessments, surface water management plans, strategic flood risk assessments and river diversions. Core responsibilities will include: Undertaking numerical modelling of all types of flood risk studies including local assessments, strategic assessments and river engineering projects. Acting as a source of expertise to others in the flood and water resources group. Advising on best practice for modelling studies. Auditing and reviewing studies by others. Mentoring staff in numerical modelling. At this level you should be a member of the ICE/CIWEM Professional Institution; have a degree (or equivalent) in an engineering or physical science discipline; have proven and significant post graduate experience in flood risk, numerical modelling of rivers/open channels and hydraulic modelling; and be familiar with a range of hydraulic modelling software for open channel flows such as Mike 11, Hec-Ras, Infoworks RS and ISIS. A higher degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field would also be advantageous.
