Hydrologist - Water

Our client was founded in 1995 and brought together a number of consultancies with a track record of performance in the environmental field.
T he longest established of their founding consultancies, was set up in 1972 and was the first multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy in the UK.
Today our client has over 500 people in eleven offices in the UK and Ireland, one office in mainland Europe.
The Water Resources & Hydrology team works within the Regional Divisions and the Companys wider product groups serving a wide range of clients ranging from developers, to regulators through to the water companies. As part of a general expansion of the team they are looking for a Consultant specialising in hydrology to join them in their Leeds Office (although other locations may be considered).
Responsibilities
Projects will be interesting and varied including work in FRA, drainage and water management studies (SuDS, Wetlands, and mine/quarry/landfill hydrology), EIA, R&D, water company investigations (low flows, drought orders etc) and assessments for regulators (WFD, water resource investigations & strategic studies).
The role will include seeking new work opportunities to developing the business and forming relationships, both internally and externally through which new work can be generated. As such the applicant should be an effective communicator.
Assignments will also involve innovative input to projects as well as mentoring and developing less experienced people within the team.
Candidates with greater experience will be gladly considered and we will be pleased to explore added roles and responsibilities accordingly.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants are likely to have an MSc in Hydrology or equivalent.
Membership of CIWEM in pursuit of chartered status or equivalent is also desirable.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
The successful applicant should have a strong technical background in a wide range of hydrological investigations and water resource planning.
Applicants should have relevant experience and are likely to come from a number of backgrounds including environmental consultancy, engineering/industry, local authority or from a regulatory background. Regardless of background applicants will demonstrate technical expertise within the field of hydrology.
Applicants must also be an effective communicator with experience of liaising with / managing both clients and regulators.
This role requires an individual who possesses strong technical skills and sound project management experience.
